The second Learning, Teaching and Training Activity (LTT) of the project “Civil Society Initiatives Strengthened with Information and Data Security” (Project No: 2023-1-TR01-KA220-YOU-000161230) was successfully held in Brussels, Belgium, between 18–22 August. Hosted by SETA Brussels, the training brought together participants from Türkiye, Norway, North Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, representing civil society organizations and partner institutions.
The programme focused on New Generation Security Threats in the New Information Era, with a particular emphasis on disinformation, its psychological impacts, media literacy, and social engineering threats. Throughout the week, participants took part in interactive lectures, case studies, and hands-on exercises delivered by experts in the field, including Prof. Dr. Erman Akıllı and Prof. Dr. Murat Yeşiltaş from SETA Foundation.

Sessions explored the nature of disinformation, misinformation, and malinformation, the use of information as a manipulative tool, and the psychological mechanisms behind disinformation campaigns. Practical workshops allowed participants to apply source verification techniques, analyse real-life cases, and engage in scenario-based risk analysis activities. The open discussion sessions (“Open Mic”) encouraged participants to share their insights and reflect on how these lessons could be adapted to their own professional contexts.

This LTT not only strengthened participants’ technical knowledge of data and information security but also enhanced their ability to identify and respond to manipulative information in their local environments. The outcomes will be disseminated through the project’s communication channels, partner organizations, and targeted community outreach, ensuring that the skills and knowledge gained in Brussels have a lasting impact.
